There's lots of great information on the world wide web about contra dancing, where to dance, and the music that drives it. Here are some of our favorites.
Country Dance and Song Society (CDSS) - our parent organization and also for many others http://www.cdss.org/
Missoula Folklore Society - dancing opportunities on the other side of the divide (and check out Bear Hug, the September dance camp held each year on Flathead Lake) http://www.montanafolk.org/
What is Contra Dancing? - from whimsical to technical http://www.sbcds.org/contradance/whatis/
Northwest Folklife Festival - held each year Memorial Day Weekend in Seattle, Washington, this event offers an incredible array of dancing and music. http://www.nwfolklife.or/folklife/
Triad, the 132 string trio, a favorite dance band from the 2007-08 season. http://www.triadstrings.com
Montana Mandolin Society - Inspired by the mandolin orchestra active in Bozeman in the early 1900s, the modern-day Society shares history and an eclectic repertoire. http://www.montanamando.com
The Meadow Lark - A Montana Band, playing Celtic and world folk music http://www.themeadowlark.com
The Broken String Band - Bozeman, Montana's original and still running Contra Dance band. It all started 21 years ago with the first generation of this band, still playing for contra dances locally and "will travel", weddings and special events. Broken String Band's CD was produced in Prague, Cz. in 200l and is for sale via their email address: brokenstringband@yahoo.com
