BFS CONTRA DANCE SERIES

Held September through May with guest bands and callers providing hot tunes and great dances! All ages are welcome and partners are not required. Please wear grit free shoes without black soles to protect the dance floor. The 2008-09 season is taking place at an all new venue, the SUB ballrooms on the MSU campus. Helena dances are held just down the road, generally on the 2nd Saturday of the month. International and Scottish dancing is once a week. See below for schedules.

In addition to the regular contra dance series, BFS will again offer several family dances especially for beginning dancers and families with chidren. These dances will be held 5:30 pm - 7:15 pm, directly preceeding the regular dance. The emphasis will be on fun and success for everyone. Admission is $5 adults, $3 children ages 2-16, Kids under 2 free. $1 off for BFS members. (Does not include admission to the dance later in the evening.) All children MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Beginner's workshop is 7:30-8:00 pm, regular dances from 8:00-11:00 pm. *Family dances are 5:30-7:15 pm.
Admission is $7 members, $9 non-members.

INTERNATIONAL FOLK DANCING & SCOTTISH COUNTRY DANCING
(Tuesdays during the school year, starting September 30, 2008)

  • Folk dancing from 7 pm to around 7:45 pm
  • Scottish dancing - done for the season, check back for next fall's schedule
  • Last Folk dance will be May 5th if we can get the SOB Barn on MSU campus (Garfield Street, behind the high rise dorms).
  • Please bring clean, soft-soled shoes. No experience needed. No partners needed. (Bring water bottles as the only drinking fountain is downstairs.)
  • Questions? Call 585-2287 or 586-6773.
  • Occasional Saturday afternoon dance parties - call about time and location.
  • International Folk Dancers will meet in Butte on Sunday, May 3rd, 6pm to 9pm at the new Sacred Ground location, 601 W. Park. Protect the new floor....bring clean shoes. Contact Cecelia Notess (585-2287) for more information or if you want a ride from Bozeman.
